The lighting industry is in a state of upheaval, but in such disorder lies significant opportunity. In the US, incandescent luminaire, including light bulbs, are scheduled for phase-out by 2014, and Europe and Australia have banned them outright. The lighting industry is fracturing and realigning, driven by a number of new factors: digital controls, more adaptive luminaires, solid state lighting (LEDs), lighting retrofit and the booming energy efficiency market. Together, these factors are enabling drastic cuts in energy costs for buildings and area lighting.
However, building owners, municipalities and lighting specifiers are still slow to adopt new technologies. Many major gaps and hurdles exist in the value chain from luminaire product developer to end user, including new sales channels, higher upfront cost of advanced lighting solutions, installation and performance issues and competing communication platforms. The future of the lighting industry is up for grabs.
Infocast’s inaugural Smart Lighting Value Chain Summit provides a comprehensive map to this fast-changing competitive landscape. By bringing together participants from across the value chain, including LEDs, smart grid, lighting controls, energy efficiency and smart energy end users and influencers, this smart lighting networking conference will create a robust environment for identifying new opportunities, relationship building & deal making for the future lighting industry.
A half-day Future of Smart Lighting Symposium will precede the Value Chain Summit.
