Increasingly, storage press releases tout overseas developments: Europe, Russia, China, and Latin America. Many have called it a ‘trillion-dollar’ global market. But which markets to focus on, and how to design strategies to successfully penetrate those markets? Who are the competitors? How do application niches and power economics differ in these other countries, from the US and from one another? What kinds of regional partners will be required to reach key government, utility and IPP decision-makers? This Workshop will offer strategic background and market insights from utility and government officials, and vendors and consultants active in various regional markets.

A number of major electronics manufacturers and distributed solar installers are developing turnkey packages combining panels, inverters and batteries for residential and distributed applications. Other firms are developing advanced power management systems and marketing them with outsourced storage, solar and wind components. Meanwhile, the microgrid idea appears to finally be getting some traction, primarily with military bases seeking to free themselves from the grid, as well as in some other university and community settings. The evolution of these integrated solutions may become a key factor in the further growth of on-site renewable energy. This workshop will showcase a series of presentations from cutting edge providers and integrators of such packages, exploring their technical capabilities, economics and marketing factors.
