Join key players to grow the Building-Integrated PhotoVoltaic industry at the first ever BIPV business meeting in North America.
Do Not Miss the Pre-Summit Workshop:
An Introduction to Building-Integrated PhotoVoltaics
About the Summit
PhotoVoltaics integrated into the building envelope may be the most revolutionary of all clean energy solutions. Building Integrated PV (BIPV) systems are able to utilize the entire building surface—from walls to windows and roofing-—to capture not just ‘peak’ sunlight, but incident and even ambient light. This dramatically increases the total potential, in terms of square footage, for distributed generation (with zero transmission loss and cost). BIPV has the potential to transform the energy hog buildings of today into the “Net Zero Buildings” of tomorrow. One study predicts that the global market for BIPV will reach more than $4 billion by 2013, with a U.S. installed capacity of 3.7 GW. Plus, tens of billions in Stimulus dollars for federal and state building efficiency retrofits will further boost BIPV sales.
However, in face of this enormous potential for growth, BIPV faces major challenges. As BIPV products evolve toward tighter interaction (or ‘encapsulation’) with the building envelope, performance, maintenance and monitoring concerns come into play. Established players from the roofing and building materials sector are developing products. BIPV is forcing changes to building codes and electrical standards. New distribution channels outside the solar installer/integrators are emerging. And there are unique aspects to financing BIPV, whether for new construction or retrofit.
For the first time in the US, Infocast’s BIPV Summit will bring together PV manufacturers, architects/designers, commercial real estate developers and large home builders, building engineers, the building material industry, roofing contractors, solar installers/integrators, distributors, balance-of-system vendors, and venture and equity investors to identify common roadblocks and devise synergistic breakthroughs. This event is the must-attend gathering for any decision-maker with a stake in BIPV, energy efficiency, green high performance buildings or distributed generation. Participants at BIPV Summit will build relationships, make deals, and together forge a dynamic new segment of the clean energy and green building economy.
