Click the download button above for the agenda.

Wednesday, May 27, 2009, 1-5 PM
This half-day workshop will provide a strategic map for investors and entrepreneurial players in the plug-in hybrid and electric vehicle space. The workshop will start at the 50,000 foot level, looking at the two fundamental drivers of the shift to electric mobility: carbon constraints and oil price volatility. The status of international carbon legislation andpricing will be examined, as well as the immediate impact of Obama’s EPA, California Air Resources Board, RGGI and NESCAUM policies. The factors behind the recent spike and equally dramatic collapse in oil prices will be broken down against the backdrop of the “bumpy plateau” in global oil production, and the impact of the recession on price, E&P and future flows.

From there, workshop presenters will survey the crisis in the auto industry and how car makers are responding, the role of billions in federal dollars from the Re-Tooling Loan pool, Advanced Vehicles grant program and ARR A Stimulus, what types of plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles plans are in store with auto makers, encompassing both personal, LEV/NEV and heavy duty/fleet vehicles.

The battery technology market and R&D horizon (including all chemistries and electrocapacitors), components and materials will be assessed. Telematics (on board information displays and internet) will also be covered.

Workshop attendees will leave with a comprehensive yet detailed overview of the underlying dynamics of the changing auto industry, where the most promising opportunities for investment are located, and how they fit together in the bigger picture.
