Founded in 1955, ABDIB - Brazilian Association of Infrastructure and Basic Industry - is a private non-profit business association. Its major goal is to help development and growth of the Brazilian infrastructure and basic industry market as well to fortify this industry and improve its standards and competitiveness at international level.

Defending the private initiative resource application to infrastructure projects since its early days, ABDIB gathers among its member companies both public and private enterprises related to the implementation, operation and financing of projects in the infrastructure area as well as to goods and service supply companies to this sector.

Its ultimate objective is to assure a reliable supply of goods and services to the population, to allow isonomic conditions for competition among local and international companies, as well as to establish actions to firmly attract both local and foreign investments.

Around 160 companies are currently ABDIB members, from areas such as Electric Power, Oil/Gas/Petrochemical, Transportation, Construction & Engineering, Basic Sanitation, Telecommunications, and Basic Industry (Mining/Cement, Steel, Paper and Pulp), in addition to investment banks and service companies related to infrastructure.

In 2008, these companies reported R$ 431 billion revenue in Brazil (15% of National GDP) and directly employed over 355,000 qualified professionals.

The ABECE (the Brazilian Association of Engineering and Structural Consultants) is the class entity which organizes and represents this sector in Brazil, defending the interests of its members through constituted powers and society. A non-profit civil society established on October 17, 1994, ABECE currently represents members from all Brazilian states, about 300 professionals, who are responsible for more than 80% of the financial portfolio of the commercial transactions, related to the branch of Engineering and Structural Consultants. The main goal of ABECE is the valuation of the profession, ensuring the production chain recognizes its projects as a business. ABECE seeks mutually beneficial agreements involving the needs of contractors and balances the return and consideration for the services given for its associates. Established on November 9, 1936, the National ABIH (Brazilian Association of the Industry of Hotels) is the oldest entity of national tourist trade and is the official representative of over 20,000 small lodgings, with over 1,100,000 rooms. For 73 years, this hotel segment unquestionably remains important for the economy of Brazil and Brazilian society.

In Brazil, business-oriented tourism represents 4% of the PIB, with influence in 52 different segments of our economy and the hotel industry generates more than 500,000 direct jobs. GENERATING RESOURCES FOR PROGRAMS THAT PROMOTE SOCIAL CHANGE IN BRAZIL

BrazilFoundation, a nonprofit under Section 501(c)3 of the US Tax Code and an OSCIP (Public Interest Civil Society Organization) in Brazil, generates resources to support grassroots initiatives across Brazil that foster growth of human capital and innovative solutions to local social problems.

In the context of the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games, BrazilFoundation proposed the Carioca Fund, a citywide community-oriented fund supporting nonprofits working to promote youth inclusion through education, professional training and access to Rio’s expanding job market.
