This in-depth course, taught by leading financial and legal experts with vast experience in renewable energy project development and finance, will provide you with the practical tools and analytic techniques to see your project successfully—and profitably—financed. Instruction will be example-driven using term sheets, structures and project documentation derived from renewable projects. On the first day, participants will briefly review the key concepts of project finance; analyze how risk allocation determines the structure of most project finance transactions; allocate risk via key contractual provisions in project documentation; and conduct a cash flow and sensitivity analysis of a typical project finance structure using an Excel spreadsheet. On the second day, we will discuss the perspectives of key sources of debt and equity financing, emphasizing markets for renewable energy projects. Further exercises will explore how to analyze the effects of tax incentives and other public policy support for renewable energy, as well as how to develop leveraged flip and lease structures. The course concludes with an exploration of key hurdles, opportunities, and new directions in today’s project finance markets.
Participants will take away sample term sheets, project documents, analysis tools, and most importantly, the knowledge to use them effectively.
