Letter From Chairman
Dear Friends and Colleagues:
Once again the wind industry is facing exciting opportunities and enormous challenges. Battling back from a couple of difficult years, 2011 has seen a significant increase in installed capacity while 2012 is promising to be a record year. Already, suppliers are selling out of their best models for delivery in 2012 and critical components are in short supply as the entire industry races to complete construction of their projects before the next great cliff—the impending expiration of the Cash Grant and PTCs.
Despite the lackluster economy, the wind industry continues to expand with new turbine manufacturers entering the market increasing the capacity for wind power equipment manufacturing, and new developers and sponsors entering the market as well.
While financial uncertainty in Europe is hanging over the market, causing financial terms to be less favorable, there is still sufficient capital to finance well-structured deals. Tax equity has stepped to the plate but will be called on to do even more as PTC deals come back.
Yet uncertainty remains the order of the day in the absence of clear policy signals from Washington. The Cash Grant and PTCs that have been so successful in driving growth are about to expire. Will they be extended? What strategies is the wind community adopting in the face of the unknown? This is sure to be the hot topic of discussion together with calls for a Federal renewable energy standard, expanding the use of MLPs for renewables and other policy support as we seek to maintain the US’ leading position in this essential industry.
Join the wind industry’s leading project developers, lenders, investors, financial innovators and other industry players at the 11th Annual Wind Power Finance & Investment Summit as we discuss the cutting edge developments in the wind power finance and investment markets, as well as the various challenges and prospects for 2012 and beyond.
This event, which has sold out for the last five years, is well known for attracting the top executives and dealmakers throughout the industry and has become the best deal-making and networking event of the year.
We look forward to seeing you at this exceptional networking event.
Best regards,
