Supporting Organizations
The Agenda 2020 Technology Alliance is an industry-led partnership
with government and academia that holds the promise of reinventing
the forest products industry through innovation in processes,
materials and markets. The collaborative, pre-competitive research,
development, and deployment supported through Agenda 2020
provide the foundation for new technology-driven business models
that will enable our industry to meet competitive challenges, while
also contributing solutions to strategic national needs.
Initiated in 1994 in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy
(DOE) to improve energy efficiency in the industry's manufacturing
processes, Agenda 2020 is now organized as a membership
alliance to accelerate research, demonstration and deployment of
breakthrough technologies. Agenda 2020 is building on the continued
success of its partnership with DOE to develop collaborations and
partnerships with other federal, state, international and cross-industry
organizations.
The Agenda 2020 Technology Alliance is a Special Project of the
American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA), the national trade
association of the forest products industry.

The Biomass Energy Resource Center (BERC) is an independent,
national nonprofit organization that assists communities, schools and colleges, state and local governments, businesses, utilities, and others in making the most of their local energy resources through the development of sustainable biomass energy systems at the community level.

The Clean Fuels Development Coalition (CFDC) is an innovative
not-for-profit organization that actively supports the development
of new technologies and the increased production of fuels that
can reduce air pollution, stimulate our economy, and lessen our
dangerous dependence on imported oil. Our goal is to drive
the demand for clean low-carbon fuels, like ethanol, through a
combination of efforts that include collaborating with industry,
educating and communicating with the media and other strategic
influencers, and support new legislative initiatives that will help us
achieve our mission.

The Department of Energy Biomass and Biofuels Program works with industry, academia and laboratory partners on a balanced portfolio of research to transform our renewable and abundant biomass resources - including energy crops, agricultural residues, and woody materials - into cost-competitive, high-performance biofuels, bioproducts, and biopower, ultimately establishing a viable, sustainable, biomass industry that enhances U.S. energy security, oil independence, and environmental benefits.

The U.S. EPA's Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP) is a
voluntary assistance and partnership program that promotes the use
of landfill gas as a renewable, green energy source. Landfill gas is the
natural by-product of the decomposition of solid waste in landfills and
is comprised primarily of carbon dioxide and methane. By preventing
emissions of methane (a powerful greenhouse gas) through the
development of landfill gas energy projects, LMOP helps businesses,
states, energy providers, and communities protect the environment
and build a sustainable future.

The mission of the Mississippi Technology Alliance is to drive
innovation and technology-based economic development for the
State of Mississippi. MTA is a non-profit organization organized into three centers: The Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship; the Center for Innovation-Led Economic Development, and the Center for Capital Formation. Housed within the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is the Strategic Biomass Initiative which seeks to accelerate the commercialization of near term biomass-to energy (B2E) technologies by working with university researchers,
entrepreneurs, manufacturers, communities and investors.

The USA Biomass Power Producers Alliance (USABPPA), an
association representing about 80 biomass-fueled power plants across sixteen states. USABPPA members are the plant owners and operators whose fuels come from the forestry, agricultural, and urban wood waste sectors. Collectively, the 41 member companies represent approximately 1,100MW of generating capacity.

The USDA'S Office of Energy Policy and New Uses (OEPNU) assists the Secretary of Agriculture in developing Department policies, programs and strategies related to energy and biobased products. The Office coordinates USDA activities related to energy and biobased products within and outside the Department. The Office conducts economic analysis and evaluates policies concerning energy and the utilization of biobased products. Research is currently underway on producing renewable fuels and biopower from biomass and marketing biobased products. The Office is also involved in tracking energy use trends on crop and livestock farms.
