Where gasification developers, technology providers, offtakers, regulators and financiers come together to make gasification projects for power, fuels and chemicals a reality.

Don’t miss the TWO pre-conference workshops:

Carbon Capture & Sequestration Updates” and “Innovations in Gasification Technology & Processes

About the Conference

Gasification has the potential to turn vast North American reserves of coal, oil sands, waste coal and petcoke into an array of high value products: clean power, liquid fuels, substitute natural gas (SNG), fertilizers and other chemical feedstocks. High oil and gas prices make this a virtually irresistible option. Gasification also allows for some flexibility between outputs, providing physical hedges—the “Polygen” option. Gasification furthermore promises to be the most efficient long-run solution for capturing carbon while utilizing these valuable feedstocks.

However, gasification projects still face many challenges. Recently the development of many IGCC projects has slowed as a result of uncertainty regarding the pricing of carbon under future GHG regulation regimes. Moreover, gasification projects are not simple to finance, as financiers remain reluctant to assume technology risk and technology developers are reluctant to financially guarantee the performance of their equipment.

Gasification developers are confronting these challenges in a variety of creative ways. In order for this promising industry which is positioned at the intersection of power generation and petrochemical refining, to reach its full potential, each of these creative approaches needs to be shared across all gasification, technology development and financial communities. As a consequence, Infocast has designed this year’s annual gasification summit to highlight the challenges and most creative responses of today’s gasification industry.

Join over 150 organizations at the forefront of the gasification business in Denver for Infocast’s fourth annual Gasification 2008: The Path Forward – The Business of Power and Polygen. The leading developers, technology suppliers, design/build contractors, equity and debt financiers, and potential offtake partners assemble for the fourth time to compare notes on the very latest strategic and technical insights, meet the partners they need to succeed, and develop win-win strategies for common challenges.

Get an up-to-the-minute briefing on:

  • The score card on IGCC development
  • Regulators’ views of costs/benefits of clean coal in the absence of federal GHG regulation
