They Gather To Develop and Finance the
Hydropower Industry of the 21st Century
In response to the nation’s quest to expand renewable energy generation capacity and reduce GHG emissions, an enhanced breed of hydropower developers are leading the charge in creating a revolutionized hydropower industry for the 21st century. Seeking to capture the vast potential of undeveloped resources, developers are pursuing a wide range of fresh opportunities: from developments at federally owned dams and rehabilitation of existing facilities to run of river, hydrokinetic, and pumped storage projects.

Secretary Chu’s comments are part of a growing call for pumped storage development to facilitate the integration of large amounts of variable renewables into wholesale markets and grids. The Pumped Storage Forum will feature leading pumped storage developers who will explore the benefits, economics, business models and market structures for a new generation of pumped storage projects.
