Workshop
Emerging Energy Technologies Briefing
January 12, 2009 | 8:00 a.m - 4:00 p.m
This is truly a remarkable time for energy technology development. Driven by skyrocketing energy prices, growing energy dependence, and rising environmental standards and spurred by governmental regulation and incentives, a wave of new energy technologies is under development. Many of these technologies are already trying to win market acceptance and many more are pushing for rapid commercialization—presenting a new world of opportunities, risks and challenges. As these technologies reach commercial application, their developers and project sponsors will be reaching out to the finance community. Thus, it is more important than ever that members of the project community keep themselves abreast of new technology developments so that they can spot opportunities, understand how new technologies will impact industry economics, and evaluate the risk characteristics. The Briefing will provide the project community an excellent opportunity to obtain a report on the status of the development and commercialization of a variety of new energy technologies. The goal is to furnish valuable insight into when these technologies will be ready for primetime and provide the foundation for financeable projects. The Briefing will review these technologies and
- Assess their current state-of-the-art and expected future developments
- Report on their technical challenges and commercialization timelines
- Evaluate their economic implications
- Appraise their operating histories and risk characteristics
