Negotiating Cooperative Agreements for
DOE Financial Assistance Selectees

Monday, November 23, 2009:

1:00pm - 2:30pm EST

The Recovery Act gave the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) some $39 billion in funding to promote new energy technologies, and companies spent much of the summer scrambling to apply for a piece of that money. Throughout the Fall, DOE has been notifying applicants for smart grid, carbon capture & sequestration, CHP and other technology grants in large numbers that they have been preliminarily accepted to receive some or all of the funding they sought. Many more announcements are expected soon.

DOE funding arrangements for financial assistance awards are generally made as cooperative agreements. Some of the provisions are set in stone, but others are up for negotiation. Hogan & Hartson has represented many successful applicants for financial assistance at DOE. In this webinar, we will address the questions any recipient or would-be recipient of a DOE financial assistance award funding should be thinking about as they enter into negotiations of these cooperative agreements that will govern their awards.
