THE SUMMIT
Carbon Capture Status & Outlook
Monday December 3–5, 2007

The challenge of the century lies before the power generation business: how to capture and store the carbon being emitted from the coal-fired plants that provide over 50% of all power in the US. The situation is far from simple: the wide range of combustion systems and rank of coal employed in today's plants, and the untried potential IGCC and other gasification plants now on the drawing boards dictate a multiplicity of approaches to solving this problem-none of which has been fully proven in full-scale implementation. Owners of existing coal generation assets and developers of future plants must understand the pros and cons of these technology options before making multi-million dollar implementation bets.

Following on the heels of Infocast's successful Coal Gasification: The Path Forward, and Carbon Sequestration Finance & Investment Summits, CARBON CAPTURE STATUS & OUTLOOK will provide the strategic insights that will help the fossil power industry come to grips with what it increasingly looking like a "do-or-die situation": how to economically capture carbon at the point of emission. It will explore a range of approaches, from implementing new gasification technology to modifying existing coal-fired power plants, to adding capture technologies, or designing future conventional plants to be "capture-ready." Owners and operators of existing plants, and developers of new plants, as well as utilities contemplating future power purchase portfolios, EPCs, investors and financiers and regulators will come to understand the complex pros and cons of these technology options.

This event brings together a distinguished group of experts who will assess the economic and technical challenges of carbon capture, as well as explore the opportunities of the emerging "clean coal and capture" sub sector. A full-day pre-conference Technology Showcase will host an array of capture solution providers and "second generation" gasifiers that separate carbon as an integral part of the technology, obviating the need for expensive and complex "add-on" capture solutions. Can your company afford to miss this event?
