AGENDA
All signs now point to "Go" for IGCC and coal gasification technology plant developments. Pressed by high natural gas prices on one side, with state carbon standards underway and federal standards looming, major utilities and independent power producers are intent on developing a raft of coal gasification plants. However, developing and financing successful coal gasification projects will depend on correctly judging the commercial viability and economics of not only competing first generation and advanced gasification technologies, but also the impacts of underground carbon storage. Coal Gasification: The Path Forward will provide a comprehensive update not only on the state of coal gasification technologies and development, but also on the latest information regarding the technologies and economics for carbon sequestration. Utility and IPP developers of gasification plants, advanced gasification technology providers, state regulators, and financiers will examine the near-term prospects for IGCC and other coal gasification projects, while leading researchers and economists will explore the viability of underground storage of waste carbon, and its potential impacts on project siting and economics. |
