About the Conference:

The nation's public health authorities are taking action to address the threat of a global influenza pandemic. The Public Health Emergency Medical Countermeasures Enterprise (the Enterprise), created by HHS, is spearheading this action. Their mission is to ensure that medical countermeasures will be available in times of need. To help it accomplish this mission, the Enterprise is reaching out to the private sector to join it as a partner in its important work.

In its second year, End to End Preparedness for Pandemic Influenza has become a major gathering place where representatives from the nation's public health authorities, the biopharmaceutical industry, contract manufacturing organizations, distribution firms, and the first responder community come together explore the opportunities for public-private collaboration. This year's theme is "Extending the Enterprise" and the conference's goal is to search for ways to effectively extend the preparedness Enterprise to include new types of partnerships between industry and government. This theme will be explored as participants discuss the opportunities for the private sector to participate in creating a cohesive, end-to-end preparedness framework that will ensure that vaccines and therapeutics are ready and available to protect the public.

The pre-Conference Symposium, Supply Chain Readiness for Pandemic Influenza Response, will address how the supply chain for vaccines, therapeutics, and medical supplies will be managed during a pandemic. Speakers representing three major components of the pandemic response supply chain-production, supply, and administration-will focus on the integration and coordination of key components in the supply chain, highlight any gaps that may exist, and explore strategies for addressing those gaps.
