Data Center Developers, Policymakers, Utilities & Power Generators Come Together to Explore How to Meet the Challenges & Seize the Opportunities to Meet a Generational Increase in Load

AI and other data centers seeking power have surged, illustrated by a 300% increase in interconnection requests in ERCOT alone over the course of 2025. The radical increase in the amount of electricity needed to reliably power new data centers is a generational opportunity for the energy industry to grow—and grow profitably. With most data centers seeking vast amounts of power by the 2028-2029 period, speed to power issues are dominating energy policy at the federal level, while state legislators and regulators are responding to public fears of increasing power costs with new policies aimed at changing the dynamics of powering data centers. PowerUp Data Centers - Infrastructure will focus on:

  • How massive new hybrid data/power facilities are tapping into a wide range of generation technologies
  • Innovative solutions to provide initial ramp-up and bridge gaps to full interconnection with the grid
  • The possibility of sourcing power from legacy generation
  • New interconnection processes for large loads
  • Fast-tracking the addition of massive amounts of generation and transmission
  • New financing structures that combine commercial real estate and project finance tenets

PowerUp Data Centers - Infrastructure will provide a detailed analysis of the mix of solutions that the energy industry are using to power data center facilities in the near-term, as well as the pathways by which those centers may transition to lower emission and more economic long-term power supplies.

The event will bring together data center developers, policymakers, utilities and renewable energy providers to discuss:

  • How policy, energy infrastructure planning, power procurements and energy investments across North America are changing in response to the unprecedented increases in data center demand
  • The pluses and minuses of using collocated projects, onsite power supplies, microgrids, and other solutions to provide reliable power to data centers NOW
  • The impacts of new interconnection and transmission planning processes on the timelines for connecting data centers to the grid, and the development of new processes for interconnecting large loads

  • The roles that gas-fired generation, wind, solar, storage, microgrids, and nuclear power can play in meeting the enormous near term demands of data centers
  • How the sometimes-competing goals of securing power supplies immediately vs meeting corporate clean energy goals are affecting power supply deals, tariff structures, and local permitting
  • What investors, lenders, and other players are looking for in terms of contracts, tariffs, and other arrangements in order to finance data center developments and their associated power projects

Attend PowerUp Data Centers - Infrastructure to network with and learn from key decision-makers, leading players, and your peers about how the industry can meet the challenges and seize this remarkable opportunity to profitably meet the power needs of a wave of hyperscale data centers.
